Peikko to become a smoke-free workplace in 2018

Starting from the 31st of May 2018, the World No Tobacco Day, smoking will be prohibited on all Peikko’s properties: offices, production premises, and surrounding land areas. This policy covers Peikko’s own employees, rental workers, students and interns, as well as other stakeholders visiting or working on the company’s premises.

Smoke-free workplaces are a growing trend. However, global companies, such as Peikko, do not often have a wide policy covering all their operating countries. Peikko wants to be a forerunner and implement the smoke-free workplace policy in all units simultaneously. The company will support its personnel in quitting smoking with various activities and measures.

“Our smoke-free initiative is a win-win situation for everyone – except, of course, the tobacco industry. It will have a positive effect on our employees due to improved health and saved money. At the same time, Peikko as a company will benefit as the number of sick leaves will likely decline in the long run,” says Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.
